Power Ratings
According to THOOSA's documentation, the following is true:
- 5kW ~= 10-15HP (48V/125A @86% efficiency DC motor)
- 6kW ~= 12-18HP (48V/140A @88%)
- 7kW ~= 17-25HP (48V/160A @93%)
From another source:
- 1HP = 746 Watts
If we go based on the assumption for specifying diesel engines for displacement boats, it's 2HP per Ton. My boat is ~5.5 tons (11,000lbs).
- ICE need: 11HP minimum, lets round up to 12HP
- 12HP * 746W = 8952 = 9kW – this seems to conflict with THOOSA
